In the October box, I have chosen Ground Coriander Seed. It is the ground seed of coriander or what we refer to as cilantro. The flavor is subtle but adds depth to anything. Take a whiff and enjoy the floral and sweet fragrance. It can be your secret ingredient to Fall baking. Add half of a teaspoon to pumpkin or apple pie for an extra something. The flavor is subtle enough not to stand out but you will certainly appreciate the added background warmth of flavor. You can use it for savory dishes as well. My first experience with ground coriander was a delicious piece of salmon at a restaurant. I didn’t recognize the flavor but liked it so much I asked the server, and I’m glad I did! Get creative and have some (FUN).
Here are some great ideas to use your Ground Coriander:
· Curries and Stews
· Pan Seared Salmon
· Fried Egg
· Pies (Pumpkin, Apple, Sweet Potato, etc.)
· Cobblers (Peach, Plum, Blueberry)
· Create Your Own Rub (ground coriander, cumin, cayenne, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, etc.)
