If you have ever been to a potluck or gathering in Benson, NC you will quickly realize we have some talented cooks. I wanted a way to introduce these amazing people. Think of this section as a recipe club. A way for Local Foodie friends to share something delicious.


We met Melissa Ysalgue through our store Salvaged Heirlooms. She stopped by on Halloween with her son Lukas in 2018. Her husband Adam is a soldier at Fort Bragg. Melissa and Adam are close friends of Angel and I. When we get together with them, there is a guarantee for good food. Mel, as we call her, is a fantastic cook. We are in a group text with a few other friends and we send recipes constantly, which has me craving something all the time. I am happy to share her recipe for Shrimp and Grits. She said this recipe is great for her family because it is quick and delicious. Shrimp and Grits in a restaurant can be pricey and considered a luxury. With this recipe you can have all the luxury in the comfort of your home for a fraction of the price. This recipe does not add sausage but she mentioned sometimes she does.
