Southern Hospitality

Have you ever had a guest show up at your house unnuanced and the Southern Hospitality inside you felt the need to feed them? That is exactly why I created this section. These are recipes you can 'whip up' quickly, but never compromise on flavor.

In this recipe I use Mike D’s Spicy BBQ Sauce. Michael De Los Santos, or “Mike D” as we know him, has been a great friend of Angel and I for many years. We met while doing craft shows in Wake County. He would pull up with a table full of BBQ sauces and rubs and we would pull up with a table full of candles and work our tails off to promote and grow our businesses; nothing like bonding under a pop-up tent in July NC heat. Fast foward to now and he owns a retail storefront in Durham, NC and was the winner of a Discovery show called ”I Quit” where he competed with other business owners for a surpise award of $100,000 to further their businesses. Not to mention all of his other awards from food organizations.

This is more of an assembly than a recipe but the lack of effort is hidden by the payoff of flavor.

Ingredients:

1 lb Frozen Meatballs

16 fl oz Mike D’s Spicy BBQ Sauce

  1. In a crockpot on high, add the meatballs and Mike D’s BBQ Sauce.

  2. Cook on high till hot.

  3. Turn to low/warm for serving.

*You can also cook on medium in a saucepan but it travels best and keeps warm in the crockpot.

It is really that easy. You can serve with toothpicks as an appetizer or on Hawaiian rolls with a slice of cheese for the perfect meatball slider.

Obviosly this isn’t the only way to use Mike D’s BBQ Sauce so get creative and be sure to post to your social media and tag us! We love to see all of you getting creative!
